Disabled access

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office and this Deputy High Commission are keen to ensure that our buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Wherever possible, we have made our buildings and services accessible. Sometimes, however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will endeavour to provide a service or access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access for disabled people. To assist disabled visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at this Deputy High Commission. If you have any other specific needs, please telephone the relevant Section to discuss your requirements; we will do our best to accommodate you.
 
General Physical Access
 
  • Access to the front entrances of the consular and visa sections, and the side entrance to the chancery building are clear and unobstructed.
  • All of the entrances listed above have ramps.
  • None of the Deputy High Commission buildings have lifts, with or without disabled access.
  • There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor of the Chancery building, which is accessible to wheelchair users or those with limited physical mobility. There is no parking available.
  • Floor coverings are safe and even.
  • Doors are not accessible to all users.
  • There is good lighting throughout the building.
  • Arrangements are in place for assisting disabled visitors in case of emergency/evacuation.
 
Access for Visually-Impaired Visitors
 
  • Signs in the Deputy High Commission are clear and easy to read.
  • Guide dogs are welcome.
 
Access for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Visitors
 
  • Hearing loops are not installed.
  • Minicom and textphone are not available.
  • Staff cannot use sign language.
  • Hearing dogs are welcome.
  • The Deputy High Commission is happy to use alternative venues for meetings, where necessary.
