The British Minister of State for Immigration and Borders, Mr Phil Woolas, visited Nigeria 3-4 February. He visited both Abuja and Lagos accompanied by Judith Macgregor, Migration Director, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, FCO. The purpose of his visit was to explore areas for strengthening co-operation with Nigeria on migration issues. In Abuja, he met with the Minister of Interior, Major General Godwin Abbe, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Baguda Hirse, and the Solictor General, Mr Abdullahi Ahmed Yola. Mr Woolas toured the Visa Sections in Abuja and Lagos and the VFS Visa Application Centre in Lagos. He also briefed the local and international media in Lagos and Abuja and went on a tour of the Lagos international airport to view immigration facilities.
